WOFEX 2018 highlights food sustainability as solution to climate change

QUEZON CITY --- World Food Expo (WOFEX), the biggest and most effective food show in the Philippines today, will bring together distinguished speakers, personalities, and organizations in the area of food and agriculture industry to discuss food sustainability and agricultural development as one of the possible solutions against climate change.

As one of its highlights, WOFEX 2018 will hold Philippine Sustainable Gastronomy (PSG) on August 2-3, 2018 during the World Food Expo (WOFEX) 2018 at the SMX Convention Hall, Pasay City, which will focus on the influence and necessity of food sustainability.

It aims to play a major role in achieving sustainable development goals by promoting agricultural development, food security, nutrition, sustainable food production, and the conservation of biodiversity.

The PSG will feature panel discussions on topics such as: Voting with your Fork: Food Activism will explore actions and initiatives that support food justice, sustainable farming and biodiversity;  Slow Travel: A Journey of the Senses will discuss travel based on gastronomic traditions and culture of a place, mapping regions based on food biodiversity, and telling the stories of farmers and artisans of a region;  Sailing on the Ark of Taste: Expedition to Lola's Kitchen and Heritage Cuisine will highlight on discovering, savoring and transforming our local and heritage produce, varieties and cuisine towards preserving biodiversity and food culture;  Conscious Carnivore will dwell on life of mindful and ethical animal eating; Waste Not, Want Not: Reducing the Food Waste Footprint will educate the public on preserving and canning food, composting, and tips to leftover cuisine, and; Food for Change Action Plan will discuss on changing food beliefs and habits to promote being active co-producers and not passive consumers.

The Philippine Culinary Cup: Where The Best Meet To Compete. 

The country’s only culinary competition certified by WACS or the World Association of Chefs Societies has become the most prestigious gathering of chefs from all around. From concept to implementation, all aspects of the Philippine Culinary Cup is up to world standards, providing the backdrop for a most prestigious competition, where every medal is recognized anywhere around the globe. Meanwhile, WOFEX 2018 will celebrate 18 years of servicing the F&B industry from August 1 to 4 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City and World Trade Center in Manila.

WOFEX will also feature the Hotel Summit and Expo which gathers F&B industry stakeholders and the hospitality industry. It will showcase local exhibitors, source and network of companies from all over the world with over 14 countries. 

The culinary competition Philippine Culinary Cup held concurrently with WOFEX will be participated by best hotels, restaurants, and culinary schools in the Philippines.

WOFEX will also highlight the Kitchen Theater where well-known chefs will share their skills with the public with F&B products and techniques.
