SEARCA, ASEAN, GIZ Special ATWGARD to conduct Kick-Off Workshop on the Promotion of Climate Resilience in Rice and Other Crops

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the ASEAN-German Programme on Response to Climate Change (GAP-CC)/Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in cooperation with the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) will hold the Special ASEAN Technical Working Group on Agriculture and Research Development (ATWGARD) Kick-Off Workshop on the Promotion of Climate Resilience in Rice and Other Crops on 21–22 January 2014 at the Ebina Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. 

The kick-off workshop aims to launch the network on promoting climate resilience of rice and other crops. This network supports the goals of the ASEAN Integrated Food Security (AIFS) and the ASEAN Multi-Sectoral Framework on Climate Change: Agriculture and Forestry towards Food Security (AFCC).

The workshop will bring together the assigned focal persons from the ATWGARD who have been assigned to support this process in 2014. Resource persons from Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, who will undertake each of their respective national studies on climate change impacts of the selected sectors, will also be present at the kick-off workshop.
