Awareness Film: Climate Change and Global Warming Workshop

In order to host the Climate & Environment International Film Festival in Myanmar, a workshop on climate change in Myanmar was held at Yangon Film School on Monday. 


This workshop is intended to promote the idea of film makers at the Festival. 15 students from Yangon Film School and 10 independent filmmakers attend a workshop for about environmental issues. 
Assistant , Cultural Department Goethe Institute , Teresa Knoferl : "So our hope from film festival and also in today workshop that we do get like high quality documentary about climate change in Myanmar. Because, I think that movies are the excellent way to inform and educate people about world climate change in Myanmar means. So, we are trying to contribute to educate the people and our way of doing that is the film festival..."  
The experts said that young film makers have responsibility to produce high quality documentary topic in order to know and inform the public and raise awareness among the public.
Chief Technical Advisor , Myanmar Climate Change Alliance , Psdwusle: "Today, we are tried to do talking with the video makers and journalist and reporter so to have an idea how to talk about climate change, how to do movies about climate change and environment because we have things that raising awareness on climate change in Myanmar and it is very important so this is one of our objectives. Some of the video makers are here and some of them will decide to prepare a movie climate change and environment and we will be happy to support them if possible in doing this movie…”


By increasing awareness, it can also increase a capacity of people address the changes of climate and its impact. 


Documentary Film Maker , Shin Daewe : By attending this workshop, we will know more about climate change and we got the detail facts for our documentary filming. We can create the right documentary film to the audience. Documentary film is vividly expressing the public and art idea. Climate change and global warming program is very less in Myanmar. I hope that many films will appear and will be seen more in 2017. Climate change is very important and we need to do more awareness to the impacts of it and preserve in our environment.
The Goethe-Institute, Myanmar Climate Change Alliance (M CCA, UNEP and MONREC will organize the initiative an international film festival in March.
